| Akinfeev broke into the CSKA starting lineup at the age of 17, and has been the first-choice goalkeeper at the club ever since, gathering various honors including a UEFA Cup, two National Championships, and the Zvezda trophy, awarded to the best football player from the former Soviet Union. He is also the captain of CSKA Moscow. In his second Champions League campaign, he had a dry spell of 362 minutes prior to conceding a goal on Matchday 5 against F.C. Porto.
