İsmail Köybaşı (born 10 July 1989 in İskenderun) is a Turkish footballer who currently plays as a left back for Beşiktaş.

Born to a family from İskenderun, as their elder son, Köybaşı had begun to play football in İskenderunspor, a local club of İskenderun, where Köybaşı was born. Köybaşı started football on attacking midfield position, but he has changed his position to left back with recommendations of Selçuk İnan, and Mehmet Çoğum, players from İskenderun as well. During his period in İskenderunspor, he played for half a season for İskenderun Kartalspor, another outfit of the city. Spelled sum of 3 years in İskenderun, he had joined Gaziantepspor in 2006.
